Club History and Values
Ashburton Netball Club (ANC) was founded in 1976 by a local PE teacher and two mothers of Ashburton Primary School, who were passionate about local girls having more opportunities to play sports. These women pioneered community sport and broke barriers for young girls at that time.
To learn more about the humble beginnings of Ashburton Netball Club, you can read a brief story HERE as captured by Sarah Craze a historian and Ashburton local.
Located in the heart of Ashburton, our club has strong ties to the local community. Many of our players are proud alumni of Ashburton Primary School, but we warmly welcome individuals from all backgrounds and schools. It’s our belief that netball brings people together and creates a sense of camaraderie that transcends any boundaries.
We are affiliated with the esteemed Waverley District Netball Association (WDNA), providing our teams with opportunities to compete in the highly regarded WDNA Competition on Saturdays. Through participation in this competition, Ashburton players have the opportunity to be part of a team, develop their skills as a netballer and a sportsperson as well as foster a sense of positive competition. For those interested, development opportunities are also available through WDNAs representative program.
We value each player’s journey and celebrate their achievements along the way. Our club is working hard to develop and foster younger coaches and support players to be involved in WDNA’s umpiring program as Ashburton Netball Club values every role within the sport; players, coaches, Team Managers, umpires, administrators and our families.

Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to provide a supportive and empowering environment for our players to develop their netball skills, build lasting friendships, and foster a love for the game. We believe in the power of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth both on and off the court.

Our Facilities
Teams usually compete on Saturday morning and afternoon and may be scheduled any time between 8:15am to 4pm. Games are played at outdoor courts at the corner of Cassinia Avenue and Farmer Street, Ashwood.
Ashburton Primary School have recently opened a new dedicated Netball court, which we utilise for most of our training.
